What makes the SCH EasyCut spring steel guard so special?

The SCH Easy Cut guard is manufactured using a special alloy steel.

A subsequent special hardening process gives the guard extremely high hardness, durability and wear life.  Another advantage is the much higher vertical and lateral strength of the guard, resulting in less guard breakage.

The angled cutting edges of the guard holds the crop material better, resulting in a cleaner cut and a better flow of material.  This also results in less power needed to cut the material.

Check for Guard Wear
Use only genuine SCH replacement parts to reduce costly downtime.  Worn cutting parts not only decrease cutting speeds, but also cause crop losses, use more power and fuel, increase wear and tear and cause extra downtime.

Guard Wear - Check the Gap
Guards should be checked regularly for wear.  A new guard has a gap of 0.15 – 0.17 inches (3.8 – 4.2 mm).

Wear with over 0.21 inches (5.4 mm) causes floating of the knife in the cutting gap.  The rounded cutting edges will cause increased power requirements to drive the knife.
